'Processione dei Misteri' is a religious procession happening every April in Trapani, Sicily. The march aims to revive The Passion of the Christ.
A quite significant amount of people, also coming from neighbouring villages, walks around bringing on their shoulders, different statues representing
Jesus Christ's painful journey until the crucifixion in Golgotha.
Local bands follow the sculptures playing funeral music for more than 24hrs while following 'Misteri statues' around the town.
Every detail is well-thought, and a sense of transcendent solemnity is felt all the way through.
I went to see the statues being prepared in the church where they are preserved all year long and continued
following them from noon to the morning after at 9 pm.
