I developed a design language for HS2 High-Speed Train Two, with a focus on communicating construction updates to residents in 50 UK areas. The project aims to reduce travel time from London to Manchester significantly. I created a clean and cheerful design to convey area-specific information clearly and professionally. I worked as the sole designer on this project in collaboration with Project Manager Megan Mulholland at Strata Communication.
Behind the work
I analysed construction data, converting it into clear infographics, maps, and icons for 50 brochures distributed across the UK. Aligning with HS2's identity, I simplified complex information into an easy-to-understand style. To add a thematic element, I used the day-night cycle as a metaphor for change and innovation, categorizing brochures into three areas: sunrise for rural, daylight for towns, and sunset for cities, each represented by playful illustrations.
